Some
two year olds are able to really keep the beat. It is amazing
to see this. However, a child that participates in a weekly music

to keep a steady beat by the time she is somewhere in her twos.
In addition to the props used by one year olds, twos can use:

music notation symbols (quarter, eighth, half notes and rests)
- sing
and play an instrument simultaneously
- switch
between 2 different instruments in the same song
Lastly, some two year olds are able to begin doing musical activities
without their grown-ups. To help them think and act independently,
we give each two year old a turn by themselves:
- at
the felt board
- to
demonstrate a body motion
- to
put away their instrument
-
to play a solo
Threes
