"Guitar
Bob", Bob Messano,
is a renowned children's musical entertainer with an educational
focus. He has been writing children's songs, performing
them and recording them for over 20 years. With great excitement
and lots of awe, we welcome him to the Hot Diggity Dog
children's music series.
Besides
performing for families throughout the NY tri-state area,
Bob teaches Kindergarten in NJ and shares his original songs
daily with his students. By being in the classroom everyday,
he is able to stay close to the unique joy and musical playfulness
that young children express.
Guitar
Bob's concerts are featured at schools, public libraries,
special community events and festivals.
Children and families actively participate in his
programs by
dancing to his hit songs: The Baseball Boogie,
Rockin' in the Rabbit Hole, We're In a Spaceship, and
Milkshake
and Cherry Freeze. As a recording artist, Bob has
released these songs and other favorites on
his own label. Now
as an artist on the Hot Diggity Dog label, he is
able to share them with an even wider audience.
Educational Highlights
Bob received his B.A. and Master's degrees in Early Childhood
Education from William Paterson University, NJ. He was the
recipient of the Ruth A. Klein scholarship, awarded by an
educational honor society. He is a featured presenter at
educational conferences and workshops and enjoys helping
other teachers bring fun music into their programs.
Musical Influences
Bob loves the blues. He has been fortunate to see many of
his favorite blues artists perform, including Muddy Waters,
John Lee Hooker, and B.B. King. Their sounds and styles
have found their way into Bob's children's music.
Bob plays Martin guitars and
is a very big Martin guitar fan. He visited the Martin factory
to get a firsthand look at their production. Bob says, "There's
few things in life you can count on. My Martin never lets
me down".
Personal Notes
Bob is the proud father of three children. He appreciates
their unique personalities and enjoys participating in their
favorite activities, ranging from reading to art to sports.
His children in turn have benefited from being a part of
Bob's creative processes as a performer and teacher.
When he is not busy teaching,
writing songs, and performing, Bob likes to:
- Hike
- Go crabbing
- Read
- Eat Italian food, especially
eggplant
- Spend time with family and
friends
